About the Baker

Born and raised in Baltimore, MD to a family of 5, my mom (Annette), dad (Aaron), my older brother (also Aaron), and my little sister (April). Yup, all of our names begin with "A." I was always interested in baking. I didn't know it then, but looking back, there were always little breadcrumbs that nodded to my love for baking.

As a kid, every year my mother, brother, sister, and I would spend Christmas Eve baking fresh chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter cookies. It was the BEST! Well, at least it was to me! Because as the years went on, that brother and sister of mine completely dropped off and left lonely me in the kitchen baking my heart away. I didn't mind. But I did mind how they would try to sneak into the kitchen and take cookies. After a while, I was interested in baking more than chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies. So, over the summers, I started looking at recipes for other types of cookies: oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodles, and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. You name it, I was baking it. And the more and more I baked, the better I became!

Now, not only were we baking cookies every year, but my mother would also make thee best cherry cheesecakes for Christmas. They were in high demand! And she made them for everyone in our family! I mean every single person received their own, personal cheesecake. Naturally, I wanted to learn and help my mother make them for the family, and I did! I did it so much, that one year, when I was about 18, my mother passed the baton over to me. And I haven't looked back since! So, each year, just like my mother, I would make cheesecakes for everyone in my family, along with a batch of various types of cookies! That eventually became more personalized as I started asking everyone what types of cookies they wanted in their cookie bins for Christmas.

Every year, I would hear, "Girl, these cookies are good enough to sell!" Even my wonderful husband (Will), after making my special desserts would say, "You could really sell this stuff if you wanted to." And I would just smile, never thinking twice about actually selling my baked goods. I was just fulfilled seeing the smiles of satisfaction on the faces of my family and friends enjoying what I shared with them. That is until I received a random text from my darling sister April, you know the one who was sneaking cookies out of the kitchen. Yes, her! She sent me a simple text asking me a question that I've heard a thousand times before:

"Don't you want to sell your baked goods?"

Now, even though I had been asked and encouraged to do this very thing many times before, this particular message from my sister stopped me right in my tracks. My heart started racing and I thought to myself, "Could I really do this?" "Should I even do this?" And right in the middle of my thoughts, I heard that little voice say to me "You're already doing this." And I thought about all of the orders and request that I made for my family and friends over the years and I thought to myself, "I am doing this!"  I talked to my husband about it, and of course, if you know him, you'll know he encourages me in everything I set my heart to do. And for the first time, I actually thought about selling my cookies and my cheesecakes. And that's how Amazinglicious was born!
